WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Trey Gowdy, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Health Care, District of Columbia, Census and the National Archives, today released “Meet Your Oversight Chairman: Rep. Trey Gowdy,” a new video highlighting the subcommittees work during 2011. The subcommittee has examined the effects of the impact of Obamacare, focused on security, transportation, and education issues in the District of Columbia, and investigated abuses of Medicaid eligibility.
“This subcommittee holds the federal government accountable to taxpayers with a focus on drug policy, the District of Columbia, the Census Bureau, and federal records,” Rep. Gowdy said in the video.
The Subcommittee on the District of Columbia was instrumental in the reauthorization of the DC Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships for low-income student to attend the private school of their choice.
