Energy and reliable access to energy are not only crucial to the success of our economy but also vital to our national security. Consistently, I hear from our local business leaders about how important access to reliable and affordable energy is to creating jobs and ensuring a healthy business climate in the Upstate. Members of Congress must work toward solutions that provide a secure energy future for generations to come.
Congress can take important steps to decrease our dependence on foreign oil and increase our nation’s energy supply by developing our domestic energy sources. For example, the House has approved bipartisan legislation to expedite the expansion of our nation’s energy infrastructure and help provide access to reliable and affordable energy. South Carolina has the potential to be a leader in nuclear energy, and Congress can facilitate this by encouraging innovation and limiting unduly burdensome government interference in our energy markets.
