Gowdy Responds to President Obama’s Budget

Today, Representative Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s budget proposal.

“Our economic challenges will not be solved by budgetary tweaks and superficial spending cuts.  Fundamental, systemic change is required to begin the process of putting our country back on solid financial footing, and we plan to offer that change,” Representative Gowdy said.

Representative Gowdy continued, “President Obama’s budget proposal does not reflect the demands of the American people, and fails to adequately address the root causes of our nation’s fiscal crisis – unsustainable debt and out of control government spending.  Instead of showing bold leadership on an issue vital to our financial future, we see the same failed policies of the past recycled with different rhetoric.  Moving forward, we will continue instituting the reforms necessary to facilitate an economic recovery and create an environment conducive to job creation.”
