Rep. Gowdy Announces 2018 Congressional Art Competition Winners
Greenville, SC – Rep. Gowdy (SC-04) announced the winners of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for the Fourth District of South Carolina:
1st Place: “The Catch All Chair” by Sophie Brown from the Fine Arts Center
2nd Place: “Consider” by Catherine Hackl from the Fine Arts Center
3rd Place: “Break Through” by Abigaile Piper from Greer High School
Each spring, Members of Congress sponsor the nationwide Congressional Art Competition to recognize and encourage artistic creativity among high school students. Last night, Congressman Gowdy held a reception to display all submissions and announce the winners. The winner’s artwork, selected by a panel of experts, will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
“Thank you to all of the students, parents, and teachers for participating in the 2018 Congressional Art Competition,” Rep. Gowdy said. “This is a great opportunity to recognize all of the creative and talented students across the Fourth District. I want to congratulate the winner, Sophie Brown from the Fine Arts Center. Her artwork will be on display in the United States Capitol for one year."
